About

The “Greenpoint Veterans Memorial Parade Committee” is composed primarily of members of Lexington Council #293 of the Knights of Columbus,  St. Stanislaus Memorial Post #1771, American Legion, The Slovak Citizens Club, the Polonia Club and the Geenpoint Business Alliance  located in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, New York. Membership on the Committee is open to residents and members of church, school and community organizations, as well as local businesses in the Greenpoint, and adjoining Williamsburg, neighborhoods. Interest in joining the Committee should be expressed in writing and addressed to the Committee at 519 Leonard Street, Brooklyn, New York 11222 or email [email protected] for more information.

The Committee established this parade to carry out the ideals, missions and objectives of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus and all patriotic organizations to promote patriotism, love of country, and acknowledgment of the critical role of our military forces (U.S. Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and U.S.-Flag Merchant Marine) in defense of our country’s freedom.

Our goals are to educate the children and immigrant population of the community about the missions, history and sacrifices of the U.S. Armed Forces since our nation’s founding; to instill pride in our country and its heritage of liberty; to demonstrate the responsibilities of citizenship; and to raise an awareness of the common goals of all our citizens who have come together from various nations, cultures and ethnicities to form this community: life, liberty, peace and the pursuit of happiness.
